With thirty years experience in art and antiques, Rachel Weathers is a fifth generation Texan with extensive knowledge of furniture, paintings, sculpture and general decorative arts, particularly material culture from the American South and Southwest of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Appraised fine art, decorative art and household contents for institutions and private clients for an international auction house with concentration on high value American estates. Extensive experience with producing formal U.S.P.A.P. compliant appraisals for insurance replacement value, Fair Market Value, and marketable cash value for insurance, estate tax, equitable division and other purposes. Most appraisals consisted of over 100 objects and with total values of over $500,000 and included work by artists Julian Onderdonk, Jerry Bywaters, Dawson Dawson Watson, John George Brown, Andy Warhol, Dale Chihuly, Lino Tagliapietra, Theodore (Dr. Seuss) Giesel, El Greco, and others.  Decorative art appraisals included American, English, and Continental furniture from the 19th century, a major Houston collection of Texana, collections of important studio and art glass, bronzes, carved stone, and Modern design objects by Charles and Ray Eames, Frank Gehry, and others.

Performed clerking and phone bid duties for Gentleman Collector, Art Glass, fine and Decorative Art, European, Modern & Contemporary, Illustration Art, Art of the West and American Art auctions.

Vetted high-end fine and decorative art objects for auction. Advised clients on ideal market presentations for high-value objects. Designed auction proposals and marketing plans for important consignments.  Major consignments included a collection of English 19th-century ship prows from a Dallas collector, an Andy Warhol 1973 Mao silkscreen from a Louisiana collector, an early and important 1958 Cy Twombly portrait from a friend of the artist, a rare Hudson river Valley canvas by a Civil War hero descended in the family of the artist, an early Arturo di Modica Wall Street Bull bronze maquette from a New York family, a J.W. Meeker oil of a Louisiana landscape discovered in California, a monumental George Rodrigue Blue Dog canvas, an early Wolf Kahn painting, a Pablo Picasso Madura vessel from a Dallas estate, a terracotta Statue of Liberty maquette, and a large Dale Chihuly studio glass group, among others.
